My Wife’s Famous Sugar Cookies

 

One of the best treats during the holidays are my wife’s sugar cookies, or as I like to call them, crispy butter!! People can’t get enough of them and when you start eating them, they are like chips, “bet you can’t have just one.”!!! These are melt in your mouth buttery goodness that is sure to please everyone.

MISE EN PLACE

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 Cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 Cup of butter
  • 1 Cup of oil
  • 1 Tsp salt
  • 1 Tsp baking soda
  • 1 Tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 Tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Egg
  • 4 Cups + 4 heaping tablespoons all purpose flour

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Cream sugars, butter and oil until light and fluffy.
  • Add egg, vanilla and mix well.
  • Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture.
  • Form small balls (about a tablespoon) and place them 2″ apart on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
  • Dip a cookie stamp in sugar and press each cookie with with the stamp.

    Dipping the stamp in sugar prevents the cookie dough from sticking. If you don’t have a stamp, you can use the bottom of a glass.

  • Sprinkle each cookie with green or red sugar crystals.
  • Bake 10 minutes. The cookies can over cook quickly so watch them carefully.
  • Place cookies on a rack to cool and store in an air tight container.
